Eye Movement / Tracking Disorders

To function comfortably and safely in the world, our eyes must be able to smoothly follow a moving object, make continuous adjustments in the positions of our eyes as we move about, shift our gaze quickly and accurately from one object to another and converge our eyes to read at near.

Injury to the brain from trauma or stroke may damage the underlying mechanisms in the brain that coordinate these movements. The patient may experience difficulty in reading, mild vertigo effects in moving about and difficulty in concentrating on visual tasks.

A variety of neuro-optometric treatments are available to improve eye movement disorders. While not all eye movement disorders will respond fully to treatment many patients can experience improved function and comfort.
